United Through a Global Credit Union Movement
Thursday, June 13 | 8:00 – 10:15 a.m.

World Council of Credit Unions’ (WOCCU) President and CEO Elissa McCarter LaBorde will highlight the ways our global credit union movement, which serves over 400 million members in 100 countries around the globe, is uniquely positioned to unite people who are driving positive change in a world increasingly divided. She will cover some of the concrete ways credit unions are expanding financial inclusion globally and how WOCCU is advocating for credit unions in front of the G20 and other international bodies. LaBorde will also provide examples of how you can interact with your international peers through WOCCU to become a more purposeful and engaged credit union professional.

Elissa McCarter LaBorde is President and CEO of WOCCU. She joined the organization in late 2021, becoming the first woman to serve at the helm in its more than 50-year history. LaBorde brings 25 years of experience leading organizations in financial inclusion, inclusive fintech, impact investing, and designing financial products that reach underserved communities across the globe. Previously, LaBorde served as CEO of Vitas Group, a social enterprise under the non-profit Global Communities, which became the largest retail microfinance and small business lending operation in the Middle East.
