America’s First FCU hammers home message of home for the holidays
The team at America’s First Federal Credit Union recently enjoyed getting homes move-in ready for Habitat For Humanity Greater Birmingham. Two homes were built for the organization thanks, in part, to a sponsorship from America’s First FCU, as well as the sweat equity of its employees.
The push to build quickly was part of the organization’s #HomeForTheHolidays initiative. Each year, thousands of volunteers donate their time to build and renovate houses and support Habitat ReStore. Volunteer’s service saves more than an estimated $1 million in labor costs each year, keeping the purchase price of houses affordable for potential home buyers in need of quality, affordable housing.
LSCU Board approves name change for Tampa Bay Chapter of Credit Unions
The League of Southeastern Credit Unions and Affiliates’ Board recently voted to approve a name change for the Tampa Chapter of Credit Unions. The organization will now be known as the Tampa Bay Chapter of Credit Unions to be more inclusive of other areas in their chapter.
AlaTrust Credit Union collects presents to help Christmas wishes come true
AlaTrust Credit Union celebrated the success of its Making a Wish sponsorship, a drive to receive gift donations for foster children in the communities the CUs branches serve. Staff, members, and others in the community were encouraged to take tags with wishes from the trees at each location, then drop requested gifts by the branches before Dec. 3 so that area children would have presents for Christmas.
The festive trees at each branch were adorned with colorful tags representing the children in need in the beginning. As the drive went on, they transformed with the growing numbers of packages beneath them.
Tyndall FCU takes part in community project to ‘Stuff the Bus’ with toys
Tyndall Federal Credit Union staff members wanted to do their part in ensuring every child enjoys a happy Christmas. Employees and members donated to Cops ‘N Kids and the seventh annual “Stuff the Bus” Toy Drive to help make the holidays a little brighter for children in the community.
Cops ‘N Kids set up toy drive tents. Florida Watersports, along with the Panama City Beach Police Department, held the fifth annual holiday drive.
The bus-stuffing drive concluded on Dec. 14 after the drive, which Panhandle residents worked to make successful. More than 26,000 toys were collected in the local effort. The mission by Revolt Ministries and the BYSB4J works to stuff buses to fill needs in communities all over the U.S.
