With the CUNA GAC in Washington this week, credit union representatives are making their presence known. It’s also a busy time in D.C. for hearings.

On the floor, the House will consider H. Con. Res. 24, “Expressing the sense of Congress that the report of Special Counsel Mueller should be made available to the public and to Congress.”  The Senate is expected to consider Paul Matey to be a United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit. The President is expected to partially release his fiscal year 2020 budget outline this week.

In committee today,  the Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures of the House Committee on Ways and Means will hold a hearing on: “Overview of Federal tax provisions that expired in 2017 and 2018 and are expiring in 2019;'” the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a full committee hearing: “The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Semi-Annual Report to Congress;” the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a full committee hearing: “GDPR & CCPA: Opt-ins, Consumer Control, and the Impact on Competition and Innovation;” the House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government will hold a committee hearing: “Treasury’s Role in Combatting Financial Crimes;” and the House Committee on Financial Services will hold a full committee hearing: “Holding Megabanks Accountable: An Examination of Wells Fargo’s Pattern of Consumer Abuses.”

On Wednesday, the House Committee on Financial Services will hold a full committee hearing: “Preparing for the Storm: Reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program and the House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on National Security, International Development and Monetary Policy will convene a hearing: “Promoting Corporate Transparency: Examining Legislative Proposals to Detect and Deter Financial Crime.”

On Thursday, the House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets will convene a hearing: “Putting Investors First? Examining the SEC’s Best Interest Rule;” the House Committee on Ways and Means will convene a hearing: “The President’s Fiscal Year 2020 Budget Proposal with U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin;” the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will convene a hearing: “Financial Stability Oversight Council Nonbank Designations;” and the Senate Finance Committee will convene a hearing: “The President’s Fiscal Year 2020 Budget.”
