Credit union advocates attending CUNA GAC in Washington, D.C., knew they would hear powerful speeches from scheduled keynotes Alison Levine, John Kerry, Malcolm Gladwell, and Dana Perino. It wasn’t until after the annual event began they learned that Vice President Mike Pence would address conference goers Tuesday morning. Pence talked to credit union leaders about the importance of their presence in the communities they serve.
He closed by saying, credit unions help families and communities, small and large; are always there to make a difference and help members now and in planning for the future.
“I urge each and every one of you to go out every day and make the American dream happen,” said Pence. “I promise that the president and I will keep in fighting for the issues you support.”
He added, “Continue to stand with families. It has always touched me that CUs don’t have clients, they have members … Keep doing what your doing and believing in the communities you’re serving. Keep investing in the American dream. Have faith.”
