Jax FCU receives Designation of Savings Excellence from America Saves
america saves logoFor the third year in a row, Jax Federal Credit Union has been recognized with the America Saves Designation of Savings Excellence. The recognition was earned for the credit union’s efforts to encourage members to save money during America Saves Week, held Feb. 25 through March 2. The award is presented each year to financial institutions that succeed in getting people to open and add to wealth-building accounts.

Jax Federal Credit Union was the only Northeast Florida-headquartered institution, and one of only seven credit unions and 11 banks around the nation, recognized among the 350 financial institutions (162 banks and 188 credit unions) that participated.

“Since our founding in 1935, Jax Federal Credit Union has put the financial wellness of our members first. Every day, we connect our members with the information and resources they need to turn their financial goals into a reality,” said Joe Nowland, president and CEO of Jax Federal Credit Union. “I am incredibly proud of our team for executing a nationally recognized campaign to spread the message of saving in Northeast Florida. And, more importantly, I’m proud of every member who took action during America Saves Week — such as opening a savings account, setting up automatic savings and engaging their families in conversations about this important topic.”

America Saves Week is coordinated each year by America Saves and the American Savings Education Council. For this year’s campaign, Jax Federal Credit Union waived its $5 membership fee for new members and provided free financial literacy resources through its branches, website, social media accounts and email newsletters. Eighty-nine new savings accounts were opened during the campaign and $6.6 million was added to existing savings accounts.
