Birmingham compliance meeting focuses on regulatory issues
Mike Lee, LSCU director of regulatory advocacy, led his monthly compliance meeting Aug. 29 at the LSCU’s Birmingham office. The meeting addresses credit union regulatory issues and compliance questions and is free for credit unions to attend.
Discussion topics included third party contracts and incident response/recovery, TCPA strategy for member communications, requests by potential successors in interest, whether fraud and compliance are handled in the same department, debit card disputes, and member communication strategy.

August is prime time for outreach to legislators
The August recess is a critical time to reach out to legislators, and the LSCU advocacy team is on the job. In Alabama this week, Jason Cochran and Blake Westbrook met with credit union leaders in Alabama and with representatives.
In East Alabama, Congressman Mike Rogers talked to credit unions about their priorities, while in North Alabama, credit union leaders had a discussion with Rep. Mo Brooks.
