July is the anniversary of the ADA Law

On July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush. As one of America’s most comprehensive pieces of civil rights legislation, the law prohibits discrimination and guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities for the American dream. It protects those with disabilities for employment opportunities, gives access to services, access to most buildings and more. Simply, the ADA is an “equal opportunity” law for people with disabilities.

The ADA requires certain businesses to make accommodations for people with disabilities. One specific aspect for credit unions (as well as many other businesses) – website content must be accessible to blind users, deaf users and anyone who needs voice prompts, screen readers or other assistive technologies to navigate online.

Did you know the Growth By Design team, powered by LEVERAGE, has ADA experts for website compliance? Is your website up to date? Will it pass an ADA compliance review? Not sure? Contact the Growth By Design web team to learn more today at Marketing@lscu.coop! July is great month to get this done.
