Florida Credit Unions Engage with NCUA

On Thursday and Friday of last week, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) was delighted to host National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Regional Director Keith Morton and Board Member Rodney Hood. Morton visited South Florida credit unions at EdFed Credit Union and Hood visited with Tampa Bay area credit unions.

As Regional Director, Morton oversees the examination and supervision of all federally insured credit unions in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Hood, who has served credit unions as Chairman and now Board Member of the NCUA for nearly a decade, is nearing the end of his term, following President Biden’s appointment of Tonya Otsuka to fill Hood’s seat on the Board. Hood has been a wonderful advocate of our industry and has paid special attention to our footprint. As such, LSCU, alongside member credit unions, have worked diligently to honor and celebrate him in the final weeks of his term.

Both members updated credit unions on liquidity, risk, 2024 supervisory priorities, and how credit unions can prepare for 2024.
