Credit Union Communities Rally to Support Hurricane Milton Victims

In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, the scale of destruction across our region is heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with more than three million people without power and the countless more who sustained damages during this powerful storm. Credit unions and their members are feeling the full force of this storm as damaging winds exceeding 120 MPH, life-threatening storm surges, tornadoes, and extreme flooding swept through the state.

The safety and well-being of our members, their families, and their communities remain our top priority. If you experience any closures or have status updates, please fill out the Credit Union Status Report online form so we can provide assistance where needed.

The Southeastern Credit Union Foundation has been gathering supplies, including food, water, generators, and mobile branches, and is ready to assist those in need. Additionally, our grant program for credit union employees and volunteers in immediate need of assistance remains open, and the National Credit Union Administration is offering grants of up to $7,500 for low-income institutions.

We know from past storms that recovery is a long and difficult process, but it is possible when we come together. The Disaster Relief Fund is open to those who wish to contribute to the relief efforts. Your donations go directly to helping credit union staff recover, rebuild, and restore their lives and communities.

Together, we’ve seen how these funds can make all the difference. During Hurricane Helene, contributions helped families regain access to critical supplies and gave credit unions the resources to reopen their doors. Please consider donating to the Disaster Relief Fund and helping your fellow credit union members in their time of need.

As we face the aftermath of this storm, we know that the entire credit union community stands ready to support and rebuild, just as we have always done.
