The League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) is sharing an important update regarding the first-ever CMN Night of Miracles Gala, originally scheduled for November 13. Due to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton in the region, the decision has been made to reschedule the event to June 12, 2025, during the first-ever ENGAGE Conference, formerly the Southeast Credit Union Conference & Expo (SCUCE).
Currently, LSCU’s primary focus is on supporting its credit union members and the communities affected by these tragic storms. Many credit unions are still deeply involved in recovery efforts, and LSCU wants to ensure that they have the time and resources to prioritize their members’ and staff’s needs during this challenging period.
Additionally, Maya, LSCU’s miracle child for the event, and her family—residents of the Tampa area—were directly impacted by the hurricanes. LSCU is working closely to support her family, with plans for many surprises and experiences for Maya that will continue until she is seen in June in Orlando.
LSCU appreciates everyone’s understanding and continued support and looks forward to celebrating at the CMN Night of Miracles Gala in June. Further details will be shared with CMN Night of Miracles Gala stakeholders in the near future.
Meanwhile, LSCU would like to highlight the tremendous work of the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation in response to Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Since the storms, the Foundation has received over 160 disaster relief applications and distributed 114 generators to credit union employees across Florida and Georgia. To date, $165,000 in Disaster Relief Grants have been awarded, helping to cover essential needs such as food, water, shelter, and temporary housing. Additionally, donations have been made to the Tennessee and Carolinas’ Leagues Foundations to assist in their recovery efforts.
To further amplify recovery efforts, the Foundation launched the Disaster Recovery Community Impact Matching Program, offering up to $2,500 in matching funds for credit unions leading community recovery initiatives. This immediate support has been critical in helping employees and volunteers regain a sense of normalcy, but the recovery journey is far from over.
LSCU and the Foundation remain committed to offering assistance, and any credit union in need is encouraged to reach out for assistance. The credit union community is also invited to support recovery efforts through the Disaster Relief Fund to ensure continued assistance for those who need it most.
LSCU thanks everyone for their solidarity during this time and for upholding the cooperative spirit that sets credit unions apart.
