Celebrating Our Impact: Reflecting on a Season of Growth and Giving

As the holiday season approaches, we celebrate not only the joy of giving back but also the strides made in advancing the credit union movement this year. December is a time for community, gratitude, and looking ahead—and this year, our collective impact shines brighter than ever.

Last month, members of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates) and the Virginia Credit Union League (VACUL) approved a historic consolidation. This strategic alignment, which will officially take effect on January 1, 2025, represents a powerful opportunity to strengthen advocacy efforts and amplify services across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia. Together, the combined organization will represent 386 credit unions and 31.5 million members, uniting communities with a shared vision of growth and collaboration.

Throughout December, credit unions across our expanded region are showcasing the heart of the industry through meaningful community outreach and holiday initiatives. These impactful stories, from toy drives and food bank partnerships to financial literacy workshops, embody the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.”

As part of this celebration of impact, LSCU & Affiliates is proud to spotlight credit unions that have gone above and beyond to serve their members and communities. Their efforts remind us of the vital role credit unions play, not only as financial institutions but also as cornerstones of their communities.

As we prepare to ring in 2025, the foundation laid by this year’s achievements sets the stage for even greater possibilities. The consolidation of LSCU and VACUL symbolizes more than an organizational change—it’s a reflection of the credit union movement’s collective strength and unwavering commitment to its members.
