With the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act set to expire at the end of this year, the federal credit union tax exemption is under consideration as a potential ‘pay for’ to continue these tax cuts. Understanding the importance of the credit union tax exemption and how our unique structure allows credit unions to serve communities and consumers often left behind by big banks, The League and ACU are launching a large-scale campaign (Don’t Tax My Credit Union) to protect credit unions, with a fundraising goal of $5 million to preserve and defend the credit union tax exemption.
