Over the past several months, the LSCU Advocacy Committees and the LSCU Advocacy Team have been developing and finalizing legislative issues agendas that will guide the legislative direction of the League for the next couple of years. The agendas, both Federal and Alabama Issues, cover some familiar territory but also reflect the ever-growing need for increased regulatory advocacy as agencies continue to introduce burdensome regulations on all credit unions in Alabama. The Florida Issues Agenda is scheduled to be voted on in December and will be sent out closer to that time.
While both agendas are thorough and tackle issues of great importance to all credit unions, the LSCU Advocacy Team is asking for your input before they are voted on by the Alabama Advocacy Committee next week. Take a moment to review both the Federal Issues Agenda for the 115th Congress and the 2016 Alabama Issues Agenda. If there are any issues your credit union would like to see added, modified, or deleted, please let us know. Credit union feedback on both agendas is critical to the success of the Advocacy Team in pursuing legislative victories in Washington, D.C., and Montgomery, AL.
