January 30, 2024 | 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. | Chastain D & E

We hear a lot about how the regulations which govern the practices of your credit unions are consistently updated and added to, but what can credit unions expect at the state level? Commissioner Kevin Hagler and Deputy Commissioner for Supervision Melissa Sneed of the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance will spend the afternoon with us providing a detailed update and answering any questions you might have.

Kevin Hagler has regulatory oversight of 123 banks, 48 credit unions, and over 21,000 mortgage and money service business entities.
Melissa Sneed is responsible for oversight responsibility for all Georgia state-chartered financial institutions including banks, credit unions, holding companies, and non-depository trust companies.

Georgia on the Map: Navigating the 2024 Election Season
January 30, 2024 | 2:15 – 3:15 p.m. | Chastain D & E

Georgia’s most popular political pundits are back! Tharon Johnson and Brian Robinson, hosts of NPR’s Political Breakfast, return to the State Advocacy Conference for a fourth year in a row to participate in a panel moderated by Sydney Seral as we look ahead into another election year with Georgia in the national spotlight. Tharon will share his thoughts on the Democratic side, and Brian will share from the Republican point of view as the two fervently (and amicably) debate.

Tharon Johnson is recognized as a national leader in political strategy and commentary. During his career, Johnson has served at senior levels of federal, state, and local campaigns and advised members of Congress, leaders in state government, the mayor of one of the largest cities in the nation, and a presidential campaign.
Brian Robinson owns Robinson Republic, a communications consulting firm, that specializes in public affairs messaging throughout the state of Georgia. He is a regular political commentator in metro Atlanta media’s leading outlets and national cable news channels, including weekly appearances on WABE’s Political Breakfast.
