While at CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in D.C., a credit union advocacy army marched to Capitol Hill yesterday to visit lawmakers. Alabama, Florida and Georgia credit union leaders were able to speak directly with lawmakers and legislative directors and to discuss industry concerns.
“The GAC gives us a strong opportunity to move the needle on federal charter modernization,” said LSCU CEO Patrick La Pine. “When 5,500 credit union advocates on the Hill, 280 from Alabama, Florida and Georgia alone, it makes a real impact. With that increased visibility, lawmakers and their staff sit up and take notice of the importance of supporting credit union issues of importance.”
Participants shared their experiences on social media, showing once again the credit union story resonates not only in local communities but with lawmakers in our nation’s capitol.
