Credit Union Leaders Meet with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

This week, credit union leaders met with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to discuss the League’s priorities ahead of the 2023 Legislative Session and to thank him for his leadership on the financial literacy legislation he signed into law earlier this year. The Governor was very receptive to credit union priorities and looks forward to working together in the coming year. Credit union representatives in attendance were Calhoun Liberty Employees Credit Union CEO Thomas Flowers, First Commerce Credit Union CEO Cecilia Homison, First Florida Credit Union CEO Brent Lister, and Community South Credit Union CEO Jan Page. LSCU & Affiliates team members present were LSCU President Samantha Beeler, Senior Director of Governmental Affairs John Rothell, and Deputy Director of Governmental Affairs Murphy Kennedy.

LSCU will soon be releasing details about our upcoming State Advocacy Conferences, in which credit unions will be provided further opportunities to engage with elected officials. In the meantime, be sure to register for the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference, which will be held February 26 – March 2 in Washington, D.C. These conferences provide the perfect opportunity to highlight the meaningful work of your credit union to improve the financial well-being of your members and communities.
