Elected Officials Celebrate Credit Union Impact

In line with International Credit Union Day, elected officials from across our footprint joined others from across the country in celebrating the impact of credit unions through Proclamations, social media posts, and personalized videos.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey issued a Proclamation commending the ‘People Helping People’ philosophy of credit unions and the community impact made over the last 150 years. Recognizing that “credit unions have championed the idea that people from all walks of life should have access to affordable financial services”, Ivey went on to highlight that credit unions serve in 98 nations around the world and serve more than 403 million consumers.

Congressman Byron Donalds (FL-19), who represents credit unions on the House Financial Services Committee, joined in thanking credit unions for their work to support local communities across the United States.

Georgia State Senator Jason Esteves (Senate District 6), our 2023 State Lawmaker of the Year in Georgia, highlighted the ways in which credit unions empower consumers to improve their financial futures.

Lastly, members of the Mobile, Alabama legislative delegation joined chapter leaders to celebrate International Credit Union Day. Recognizing that credit unions are the backbone of local communities, State Representatives Barbara Drummond (House District 103), Adline Clarke (House District 97), and Sam Jones (House District 99).
