Georgia Governor Signs Landmark Credit Union Bill into Law, Paving the Way for Modernization and Growth

Last week, Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp signed a League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) priority bill, HB 876, into law. This legislation was crafted from the input of credit union advocates in partnership with the Department of Banking & Finance and modernizes the charter in several ways to improve the operating environment for state-chartered credit unions.

We are grateful for Majority Caucus Chair Bruce Williamson’s and Senate President Pro Tempore John F. Kennedy’s continued leadership on this important legislation for credit unions. The Act will become effective on July 1.
