Due to the resurge in COVID-19 cases, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU) has decided to move Hike the Hill to a virtual platform, with meetings to occur later in Fall 2021.
LSCU began planning Hike the Hill months ago with full intentions of returning to an in-person format as Congressional offices would be more accessible following Labor Day weekend. However, with the current spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19, the House and Senate Leadership have begun to implement strict protocols, further limiting access to the Capitol for visitors.
The LSCU Advocacy Team still plans to be in Washington, D.C. for a meeting with Kyle Hauptman, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board Vice Chairman, on September 28, 2021.
While we shift to a virtual Hike the Hill event, we intend to hold meetings with Senate offices, Financial Services committee members, Ways & Means committee members, and other key lawmakers.
We will provide more information in the coming weeks about the virtual Hike the Hill event.
As always, your safety is of the utmost concern and LSCU is doing everything possible to work towards a safe and healthy 2022 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference.
