As Georgia’s legislative session is almost at the halfway point, the LSCU Advocacy Team continues to work hard for all affiliated member credit unions in Georgia, closely watching the state’s Department of Banking and Finance housekeeping legislation.
The bill, which LSCU supports, passed the House unanimously and has now passed out of Senate Banking & Financial Institutions, sponsored in the Senate by Majority Caucus Vice Chairman John F. Kennedy. The legislation will remove unneeded language and would allow for virtual shareholder and stakeholder meetings.
The LSCU Advocacy Team joined the Georgia Retailers Association to amend the Organized Retail Crime Prevention Acts to remove language that would have disenfranchised sellers who bank with credit unions.
LSCU has also been actively working with the Georgia Bankers Association to amend legislation introduced by the Department of Revenue to require financial institutions to provide certain information related to delinquent taxpayers.
