Yesterday, LSCU SVP, Association Services Jared Ross and Sr. Director of Governmental Affairs (FL) Jennifer Martin spent time on Capitol Hill welcoming Florida’s new members of Congress. In November, five new members of the delegation were elected: Reps. Michael Waltz (FL-6), Ross Spano (FL-15), Greg Steube (FL-17), Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (FL-26), and Donna Shalala (FL-27).
The team visited each office, as well as stopped in to meet with other members of the delegation to begin legislative outreach with the 116th Congress. Additionally, Mary Ott Wood, President/CEO of Florida West Coast CU and LSCU Board Member, along with husband Art, retired CEO of Railroad & Industrial FCU, were in D.C. making the rounds, as well.
Florida’s newly elected Sen. Rick Scott (R), has chosen to delay his swearing in to the Senate so that he can complete his term as governor. He will officially become a senator next Tuesday afternoon.
Alabama’s delegation remained the same in the past elections.
