LSCU Welcomes Christopher Hodge to the Advocacy Team

The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU) is excited to announce that Christopher Hodge joins us as the new Senior Director of Governmental Affairs in Florida. Christopher Hodge brings a well-respected and connected reputation with Florida lawmakers and extensive governmental affairs experience.

He most recently worked as the Assistant Director of Government Affairs at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS). During his tenure, Christopher played a vital role in engaging legislators for statewide research in artificial intelligence, resiliency, and the agricultural and higher education sectors at both federal and state levels. On the ground, he worked to help build grassroots stakeholder support throughout Florida for special budget projects that will have positive lasting impacts on Florida for years to come.

Before his position at UF/IFAS, Christopher served as a legislative aide to Representative James Buchanan in the Florida House of Representatives. His time in the Florida House was marked by his dedicated work on various significant issues, including statewide COVID-19 response, agricultural, environmental, and commercial policy. He has also worked on, and managed, political campaigns throughout Southwest Florida in both state house and congressional political races.

Recognized as an emerging leader in Florida, Christopher is a member of Leadership Florida Connect Class XIII and was selected for the Florida Politics Rising Stars Class of 2022, underscoring his commitment and potential in shaping the state’s future.

Academically, Christopher holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Medical Anthropology from the University of Central Florida. He continued his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida Hough Graduate School of Business. Throughout his student years, he actively engaged in campus life and state politics, assuming leadership roles in various student organizations.

Christopher, who calls Tallahassee home, cherishes spending time with friends and loved ones, his fiancée Caroline Schwab, and their beloved golden retriever, Scout.

This expansive leadership experience will make Christopher a phenomenal advocate for Florida’s credit unions at the State Capitol.
