Don’t forget to register for virtual meetings with your state’s federal legislators during the 2021 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in March.
CUNA’s GAC, the credit union industry’s premier advocacy event, brings together CU leaders from across the country to learn about and interact with key legislation and lawmakers that could affect CU operating space.
“Perhaps the most important part of this event are the Hike the Hill visits we make to representatives from Alabama, Florida and Georgia,” said Blake Westbrook, director of political action and grassroots at the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates. “These visits allow us to deliver the message of our CU’s good work directly to the legislators who need it most. It’s an immeasurably important step in our grassroots advocacy efforts.”
This year, participants will “Hike the Hill” virtually, meeting with senators and representatives during a series of scheduled Zoom meetings. The format may feel a tad different, but the goals remain the same — to inform legislators of the credit union difference and of what the industry needs to thrive.
