Yesterday, the Senate Banking Committee recommended NCUA Board nominees Rodney Hood and Todd Harper for confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Both were approved by voice vote indicating that there was no opposition. Mark Calabria was also recommended by the committee to serve as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).

“We thank the Senate Banking Committee for prompt consideration of these nominees and hope to see a vote on the Senate floor soon,” said Ryan Donovan, CUNA chief advocacy officer. “Credit unions look forward to working with a full, three-person NCUA board, and with the next phase of leadership at the FHFA.”

Hood was resubmitted for the open seat by President Donald Trump in January, after being nominated in the previous Congress but did not see a vote. He previously served as vice chair of the board from October 2005 to August 2010. If confirmed, he would replace board member Rick Metsger for a term ending August 2023.

Harper, nominated in February, served as director of public and congressional affairs and as the chief policy advisor to the chairman at NCUA until 2017. If confirmed, he would take the open seat left vacant by former chair Debbie Matz for a term ending April 2021.
