Last week, the Senate overwhelmingly passed a fiscal 2019 funding package, H.R. 6157, to fund the departments of Defense, Labor, Education and HHS. The leadership of both parties in the Senate are attempting to avoid a government shutdown on October 1, 2018, the first day of the 2019 fiscal year.
While the Senate has passed nine of the twelve annual appropriations bills, the House of Representatives has passed only six of them. Both bodies have passed different versions of the fiscal 2019 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act. Credit union priorities are fully funded in both bills and the House version includes a number of regulatory relief provisions for financial institutions.
We continue to urge Congress to pass these annual funding bills to avoid a partial or full government shutdown in the weeks leading up to the midterm Congressional elections. Read the full Washington Wire here.
