Young Professionals Set New Standard at Florida Advocacy Conference

More than a dozen Florida Young Professionals traveled to Tallahassee two weeks ago to participate in LSCU’s annual Florida Advocacy Conference, setting a new standard for advocacy engagement among young professionals. Professionals travelled from Orlando, Tampa, and all across the Panhandle, including a large group representing the Northwest Florida Chapter of Young Professionals.

“It was great to be joined by so many of my peers in the credit union movement who are eager and willing to make a difference. As Young Professionals in Northwest Florida, we look forward to building upon this momentum and getting involved in other advocacy opportunities. Since leaving the conference, many of our members have discussed getting involved in local campaigns, hosting PAC fundraising opportunities, and more. We appreciate the League making this possible,” shared Laura Massimino, Data Analyst Manager at Pen Air Credit Union and Past President of the Northwest Florida Chapter of Young Professionals.

This marks the largest group of Young Professionals to attend one of the LSCU State Advocacy Conferences to date, and we commend these leaders for making time to represent our industry.

The group met with members of the State Legislature to highlight the credit union difference and advocate for key credit union priorities including public deposits, interchange, and Property Assessed Clean Energy Loans. They also heard from the Office of Governor Ron DeSantis, the Offices of Financial and Insurance Regulation, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, and many more.

As in-person advocacy and grassroots mobilization truly helps move the needle when it comes to pending legislation, LSCU is grateful to everyone who joined us in Tallahassee for the Florida Advocacy Conference.
