During the Southeast Credit Union Conference & Expo (SCUCE) held in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday, June 15, 2023, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates) honored Ms. Ott Wood with the prestigious 2022 Distinguished Service Award. This esteemed accolade acknowledges her lifelong commitment to the credit union movement, reaching beyond the natural person credit union.

After an impressive 24 years of dedicated service at Florida West Coast Credit Union, Ms. Ott Wood announced her retirement. Her involvement in the credit union movement began at the young age of 19, and, throughout her career, she has been a driving force in grassroots advocacy for credit unions.

In our interview with Ms. Ott Wood, she reflects on her remarkable career, shares significant moments from her time in the credit union industry, and imparts valuable advice for aspiring young leaders on how to keep the movement going strong.
