IBM Southeast Employees’ Credit Union celebrates 50 year of service

This year IBM Southeast Employees’ Credit Union celebrates 50 year of service. Throughout 2019, the credit union will celebrate the history of each branch. Back in 1969, IBMSECU was started with only five IBM employees who each pitched in a quarter. Today, it has exceeded $1 billion in assets and is more than 85,000 members strong.

All members from the Military Trail branch were invited to join in celebration with complimentary Chick-fil-A. Members also are encouraged to write why they chose IBMSECU on a cut-out quarter and, in exchange they will receive their 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coin at the branch history celebration day. Members can also enter into a drawing for a 1969 Ford Mustang autographed by golf legend Lee Trevino.

SECUF and Envision Credit Union host reality fair

The Southeastern Credit Union Foundation, Envision Credit Union, and the Frenchtown Opportunity Center facilitated a reality fair at the LSCU Tallahassee office recently for students from the Frenchtown area. What is a reality fair? It is an experiential, fun financial education activity where students are paired up and are given new life scenarios which include careers, salaries, and obligations. They must then visit 10 different stations and make choices (together with their partner) while trying to stay within their budget.

The stations include housing, transportation, food, child care, clothing, and the like. After the experience, the group learns how to set up and use a budget. If your credit union is interested in hosting a reality fair, please contact SECUF Director, Juli Lewis.

Alabama Teachers Credit Union features business members on social media pages

Alabama Teachers Credit Union regularly spotlights one of its business members on its Facebook page.  This provides great advertising for the credit union’s business members and solidifies value and connection between the business and ATCU.

This month’s featured member is Weathered Charm, a specialty retail and food store that features unique and eclectic gifts, home décor, and one-of-a-kind delicacies. They also offer macarons that are made from scratch in-house by co-owner Heather Miller. Now through Valentine’s Day, Weathered Charm will be offering “famous couples” themed macarons.
