The next fraud meeting will take place on Aug. 7 at 9 a.m. at the LSCU offices at 22 Inverness Center Pkwy, Suite 200, Birmingham, Al, 35242.  In addition to our roundtable discussion, Ezra Heath, a special agent with the IRS, will discuss fraud trends for financial institutions, and Richard Taylor of the FBI will discuss elder abuse.

Also, there is a free active shooter training (not tactical) in the Birmingham area hosted by DHS on Aug. 14 at 8:30 a.m. at the Baptist Church at McAdory, McCalla, AL. The workshop will describe how to incorporate key elements of successful incident management into planning efforts, such as:

  • Developing communication and incident plans for employees.
  • Building relationships with local first responders.
  • Coordinating with first responders before, during, and after an incident, and
  • Integrating public affairs into incident management.
