Suncoast Credit Union holds successful fundraiser for Florida Congressman
suncoast groupSuncoast Credit Union enjoyed a healthy turnout during its recent fundraiser for Congressman Gus Bilirakis (FL-R). Bilirakisis the representative from Florida’s 12th Congressional District in the U.S. House. He was first elected to the U.S. House, representing District 9, in 2006. He represented District 9 until 2013.

He won election to represent District 12 in 2012, and most recently won re-election in 2018. In his time in Congress, Bilirakis has served on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and as the vice chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee.

 

Alabama and Florida CU professionals earn CUDE credentials
The National Credit Union Foundation’s April DE Training was held April 3-8 at the Lowell Center in Madison, WI, and was attended by employees and volunteers from credit unions and system partners across the United States and the globe. Among 42 credit union leaders certified as Credit Union Development Educators were Kyle McDougal, America’s First Federal Credit Union in Alabama, and  Debra Steele, Suncoast Credit Union in Florida;

DE Training is a unique experiential training program that provides lessons in credit union structure, purpose and the “why” that differentiates credit unions from other financial institutions. During the Foundation’s signature program, participants are involved in group exercises, field visits and interactive speaker sessions that provide insights into how credit unions can leverage their unique business model to help their members and communities overcome the financial and developmental issues they face.

 

Tampa Bay Chapter hosts FBI as speaker on issues of cyber crime
The Tampa Bay Chapter of Credit Unions hosted an interesting workshop on white collar, financial, and cyber crime. The FBI speaker stressed the importance of SARs (Suspicious Activity Reports).
