Kinetic Awards $5,000 in College Scholarships to Area Students

Last week, Kinetic Credit Union in Columbus, Georgia, awarded the Ronald J. Mahoney Kinetic scholarships to two rising college students in the local area.

The two recipients are Jada Brown from William H. Spencer High School and Aaron Harris from Smiths Station High School. Jada plans to attend The University of Georgia, majoring in Middle School Education with a concentration in Math. Aaron plans to attend Auburn University, where he will major in Aerospace Engineering and minor in German.

“Mr. Mahoney was passionate about our community and bettering the lives of those around him,” said Mark Littleton, President and CEO. “Both Jada and Aaron share this passion. Besides being outstanding students, they are wonderful examples of being well-rounded and will no doubt be community leaders in the future.”

Each recipient received a scholarship of $2,500. The winners were selected for demonstrating their commitment to excellence and service in academic studies and community involvement.

The scholarships are named in honor of former Kinetic Chairman Ron Mahoney, who died in January 2016. Ron Mahoney served on the Kinetic Credit Union Board of Directors for 18 years and was Chairman from 2007 – 2016.
