MIDFLORIDA Credit Union: Leading the Way in Financial Literacy

MIDFLORIDA Credit Union, a prominent financial institution serving Florida residents since 1954, has launched a new financial literacy program, MIDFLORIDA Money Minute. The eLearning platform empowers individuals by providing valuable financial education and resources.

The program is free for all users, no credit union membership required, and is part of MIDFLORIDA’s mission to improve the financial well-being of all those they serve. “In today’s rapidly changing economic environment, the need for financial literacy has become essential,” said Vanessa Hernandez, Chief Retail Delivery, MIDFLORIDA Credit Union. “We hear it from our branch employees every day, and that’s why we developed Money Minute – to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions”, Phillip Davis, Financial Literacy Administrator, MIDFLORIDA Credit Union.

MIDFLORIDA Money Minute, a comprehensive educational platform, provides hundreds of financial topics through bite-sized courses. These topics include building credit, budgeting, purchasing a home and vehicle, managing student loans, and estate planning. Users also have access to a library of informative videos, providing insightful tips on accessing credit scores, transitioning from college to the workforce, and identity protection, among other vital topics. The program’s tracking tools, financial journals, debt reduction plans, and college and career explorers enable users to make informed financial decisions.

In addition to eLearning offered by the credit union, MIDFLORIDA has also developed curriculum for in-person presentations that include interactive activities geared towards engaging with high-school students and adults. With these efforts already making a significant impact in the community, the credit union is dedicated to rapidly expanding its literacy program. Stay tuned for exciting new elements that will be introduced to cater to elementary audiences as well!

By developing this program, the credit union has taken a significant step in becoming a Financial Literacy and education leader. The eLearning platform releases fresh content weekly to ensure as the world of financial literacy continues to evolve, so do the courses and tools provided.
