The World Council of Credit Unions will host the 2021 World Credit Union Conference in Glasgow, Scotland, July 11-14, 2021. Co-hosted with the Association of British Credit Unions Limited (ABCUL), a partner with the LSCU, this financial services event will provide industry education focusing on today’s leading topics along with global networking opportunities.
Registration for the World Credit Union Conference will be available in early 2021. World Council and ABCUL continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and will provide the safest learning platform possible for attendees. Should UK health organizations and/or WHO guidelines determine an in-person meeting with appropriate health and safety procedures is not feasible or should travel restrictions make attendance difficult, we will be hosting a virtual event in replacement.
The international credit union movement added more than 17 million members in 2019 to reach a new membership high of more than 291 million in 118 countries, according to World Council of Credit Unions’ 2019 Statistical Report.
That surge contributed to a worldwide credit union membership growth of more than 107 million over the past decade (2010-19)—an increase of 59%. The rise was fueled primarily by large increases in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
Credit union assets increased by more than 26% worldwide in 2019, while savings, loans and reserves also grew.
