Day Two of SLDC was packed full of interactive roundtable discussion, breakout sessions and networking opportunities. The day kicked off with a lively update from Affiliates Consolidated Services CEO Patrick La Pine providing attendees with the status of the recent consolidation with the Georgia Credit Union League. La Pine also provided an outline of the many business units that will be a part of the for-profit side of the organization including Growth by Design, Members ATM Alliance, the recent formation of Shared Cooperative Services and more.

Culture expert Tony Moore presented during the opening General Session and challenged everyone to embrace the discomforts of leadership and look for ways to stay relevant.  He spoke about the importance of culture and said, “Culture is the soil in which everything in your organization lives or dies.”  He also reminded the audience that “Your culture is perfectly aligned to get the results that you are getting” and to embrace taking leadership to the next level in the workplace.

Another highlight of the day was the popular Advocacy Luncheon which featured guest speaker Alabama Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth. Ainsworth reported that his current focus is workforce development, education and growing the state’s economy.

The afternoon agenda offered breakout sessions including a CEO Roundtable and Director’s Roundtable, how to improve your credit union’s investment portfolio and an economic update from Bill Hampel.

The day’s activities culminated in the evening with a bayside reception and wine pull sponsored by LEVERAGE, CUNA Mutual Group and EVP to benefit the SECUF.
