LSCU brings dramatic CU CEO story to SLDC Virtual Experience

Don’t miss the most inspiring and dramatic CU CEO story at the Southeast Leadership Development Conference (SLDC) Virtual Experience! Be one of the first 100 registered by Oct. 23 to receive your special SWAG! Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll find at the Southeast Leadership Development Conference (SLDC) Virtual Experience.

Meet Amy Downs, president/CEO of Allegiance Credit Union, who will discuss how your response to a crisis can make your credit union stronger than before. Downs was one of the last survivors to be pulled from the rubble of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing in which a total of 168 people were killed, including 18 of her 33 co-workers. While buried alive and wanting to die, she realized she had never really lived. Once freed from the rubble, Downs promised God she would never live her life the same. Amy now shares a message more powerful than her survival: her transformation in the aftermath.

Maureen Bock, senior director of education at LSCU & Affiliates, says she was overwhelmed hearing Amy’s story of triumph over tragedy. “I heard Amy Downs’ story earlier this year and it stopped me in my tracks,” says Bock.  “I do not know if I have heard anything more memorable, compelling and inspiring. She is a powerhouse with purpose. I am so excited that credit unions in AL, FL and GA get to hear her story! Make sure you sign up as many leaders in your credit union as you can.”
