adminAs many of you are aware, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the creation of the League of Southeastern Credit Union & Affiliates. With the proposed consolidation of the Georgia Credit Union Affiliates into the LSCU & Affiliates, we are preparing to embark on the next chapter in our evolution as an organization.
For the Southeastern Credit Union Conference & Expo (SCUCE) this year, our objective has been to put together an outstanding agenda helping to mark this occasion, beginning with our charity golf outing to benefit the SECUF and continuing with a line-up of events that we’ve tailored to meet the requests of our attendees. We have another line up of great speakers and presenters for you this year. One of our keynote presenters, Vinh Giang, is not only a leadership and motivational speaker, but also a magician. He’s going to provide a powerful message in an entertaining format for our attendees. We’ll also have Timothy Alexander, credited for helping to bring football back to the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB), who will have an inspirational story to share.
CUNA CEO Jim Nussle will be on hand to share remarks and will also take part in an interactive exchange with me and our attendees. Also this year, there are unique opportunities with the timing of the America’s Credit Union Association Conference (ACUC) in Orlando, June 17-20 at Walt Disney World, segueing in to SCUCE this year. We’re working very closely with CUNA to allow those who plan on joining us to have the unique advantage of participating in some of the ACUC activities and sessions. These including the Disney Institute, where you’ll see first-hand how Disney delivers consistent world-class customer experiences.
One of the things we’ve heard from our credit unions in the past is that they would like to see more educational breakout sessions, so this year we’re raised the bar, adding sessions on CECL 101 and CECL 102, as well as additional training on cyber security, BSA, and digital marketing, all timely and popular topic in the marketplace.
Last year’s Active Shooter session was another well received session, which will be returning this year to help prepare credit unions for a situation we all hope never to experience.
We also have a unique event to finish the conference with a bang at the Xquisite Xperience; A Black and White Masquerade Affair! Black and white cocktail attire is encouraged, and guests are invited to wear masks. The person wearing the best mask will win a prize of a two-night stay at the exclusive Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs, FL.
