Virtual IRA Training provides essential education for CU staff

As the credit union industry copes with changes brought on by the pandemic, one thing is a certainty: Training is still essential. To keep credit union staff up-to-date in a safe environment, LSCU is planning a Virtual IRA Essentials & Advanced Workshop on Sept. 22 and 23.

“Earning a member’s business on a consumer loan is one thing,” said Maureen Bock, LSCU’s senior director of education. “Having them entrust a credit union with their retirement savings is another. It is important that staff opening and servicing member’s IRA accounts are well trained. LSCU is excited to provide this in-depth two day IRA training workshop to increase staff skills and knowledge on an important product for the member and the credit union.”

IRA Essentials gives attendees a solid foundation of IRA knowledge. Topics include Introduction and Establishing IRAs, IRA Funding, IRA Distributions and IRA Portability. Attendees will leave this session able to work with IRA owners and process basic IRA transactions with confidence. This is a beginner’s session; no previous IRA knowledge is assumed.

Advanced IRAs builds on the attendees’ basic IRA knowledge to address some of the more complex IRA issues that their financial organizations may handle. Topics include IRA Update, Required Minimum Distributions, Beneficiary Options, Advanced Portability, Roth IRA Conversion Contributions, and IRA Excess Contributions. This is an advanced session; previous IRA knowledge is assumed.

IRA Essentials Workshop/Sept. 22: $299 per person
IRA Advanced Workshop/Sept. 23: $299 per person
IRA Essentials and Advanced Workshops/Sept. 22 & 23: $498 per person
