adminGiving Tuesday is today, and we’re ready to celebrate! What is Giving Tuesday? This special day takes place each year on the Tuesday directly after Thanksgiving and was created to help the “giving season” get started, reminding people that there is more to the holidays than consumerism and commercialization. The generosity of giving is a great American tradition.
Celebrate Giving Tuesday by:
- helping to restore hope to a family recently devastated by Hurricane Michael;
- providing financial education resources for youth and young adults;
- connecting credit unions with community partners to better serve low income families;
- providing a scholarship to develop our future leaders.

To help us celebrate Giving Tuesday this year, UAB football icon, Timothy Alexander, will give back $1 from the sale of each of his books to the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation. Some of you met Alexander at the Southeastern Leadership Development Conference as he facilitated an inspiring session on leadership. For those of you who haven’t heard his story, after a horrific car accident in 2006 when he was in his senior year in high school and was fast becoming one of the best football players in the state of Alabama, Alexander was paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. His life could have ended then, but to think that means you don’t know Alexander.
“Ever Faithful, Ever Loyal” is Alexander’s emotional and inspirational story. Determination, leadership, overcoming obstacles, and never giving up on a dream — it’s all wrapped up in Alexander’s story. This would make a great gift for yourself or for someone who needs a little motivation, and the author will sign each book before sending it to you.
