Will Alabama keep the LSCU Financial Fitness Title in 2020? It’s time to take the field for financial education, and credit unions from Alabama, Florida and Georgia are being asked to rally high school students to take part in the 2020 tournament. Teams must be selected by Feb. 17 for local chapters to begin competitions March 1-30. Winners of those bouts will go on for online competitions among Chapter Champions, April 1-30, until the Top 5 teams are determined. Those teams will be selected to go to the final live championship in June during the Southeastern Credit Union Conference and Expo in Orlando, FL.

“This is an exciting competition for high school students and for chapters to compete and to share the message of the importance of financial education,” said Juli Lewis, director of the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation. “Besides bragging rights, the chapter, YPG or credit union represented by the winning team will take home the coveted LSCU Financial Fitness Tournament trophy. That’s definitely incentive to get your credit union involved.”

YPGs, chapters, individual credit unions, chambers or other approved organizations may register a team of up to three high school students with a $250 sponsorship. Multiple teams within classes may be sponsored for $1,000. You don’t want to miss this tournament, showcasing the financial knowledge of high school students around the states. The Southeastern Credit Union Foundation will help to coordinate, supply the materials and help your team succeed.

The sooner you get your teams together, the more time they have to study but it’s time to take the first step to kickoff your commitment by emailing juli.lewis@lscu.coop.

Enhancements for 2020:

  • Three states compete
  • Regional prizes as well as championship prizes
  • Top 5 teams get to compete in Orlando
