The LSCU and the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation (SECUF) partner with CUNA to offer the unique financial counseling training program for credit union staff, the enhanced Credit Union Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP). The program combines the affordability and convenience of a self-study program with the group hands-on learning and networking of an off-site CUNA School.
Credit Union and Participant Benefits:
- Proven financial counseling skills that become part of the credit union’s culture, making counseling available through virtual or in-person appointments.
- Written for all staff so anyone can offer financial counseling during every member interaction, helping members transform the way they deal with money.
- Differentiates a credit union by having certified financial counselors on its team, further demonstrating the “people helping people” philosophy.
Participants have access to recorded webinars for each module to help them stay on track. Study sessions are held virtually or in-person in Alabama, Florida and Georgia, providing hands-on training with experienced counselors, as well as the opportunity to network, share best practices and prepare for exams. Participants will be able to test online with a proctor in a virtual setting, making it convenient and cutting travel costs.
Individuals who successfully complete all eight modules and the exam earn their Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation.
Please share this with the appropriate staff members in your Credit Union. The cost of registration is $799 per person and credit unions with SAS funds may apply them to this cost. Scholarships are also available! Credit unions enrolling multiple participants may be eligible for a discount. More information and online registration can be found on the website here.
FiCEP material has been updated for 2021 and includes a section on financial wellness for credit union employees and only one exam.
