Does your credit union promote financial health through workshops, reality fairs and/or student-run branches? Register for the National Youth Involvement Board conference for a financial education conference created just for credit union professionals! From student branches, youth accounts, exploring tech trends, community outreach, to financial education resources for ALL ages, they cover it all in three exciting days! Details can be found here.

Corporate One is once again partnering with the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU) to award two credit union professionals who are members of Corporate One with scholarships to attend the 2018 National Youth Involvement Board (NYIB) conference in Charlotte, NC, from July 23-26.

Whether you are able to go to the conference or not, join us for a webinar this Thursday to learn how to make your financial education endeavors count toward the National statistics. Our Florida and Alabama credit unions are doing so much and it’s time to toot our horns a little.

Who should join? Community development, financial education and marketing specialists, branch managers … anyone from your credit union who is involved in spreading financial education to youth and young adults.

Register in advance HERE for a Zoom meeting on June 14 at 10 a.m. ET to learn more. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

The purpose of the NYIB:

  • It began in October 1967, when CUNA Mutual Group and the Credit Union National Association began roundtable meetings to find out why young people were not joining credit unions.
  • At the 1972 youth conference, the Youth Advisory Board established an executive committee and elected a chairman, naming the group the National Youth Involvement Board, or NYIB. It was an answer to a timely challenge: building a grassroots network of credit union advocates concerned about perception and acceptance of credit unions among younger generations.
  • NYIB’s members communicate, share, and work together toward the mission of “creating financially savvy individuals and loyal credit union members.”

Attending this conference is an excellent opportunity for credit union professionals to equip themselves with the tools they need to teach financial literacy to youth. To be considered for a scholarship, please to fill out the attached entry form, and return it to Juli Lewis by June 25.
