Filene, Inclusiv, PolicyWorks, and Coopera share a collective cooperative DNA and the conviction that big issues in credit unions and community-focused financial institutions require collaboration and leveraging of strengths. To do that, a workshop is planned May 2-3 in Miami, FL, that will focus on giving credit unions and community-oriented financial institutions tools to effectively drive financial inclusion in their communities.
The workshop will teach credit unions to implement ITIN Lending while engaging a new, broader community of members and making a significant impact in the lives of borrowers. The workshop’s principles of driving financial inclusion, reaching and serving untapped and underserved markets such as the Hispanic community, and operationalizing ITIN Lending is based on more than 20 years of experience with the Juntos Avanzamos program and the work of organizations such as Coopera.
The workshop will also empower credit unions to offer small business loans to underserved entrepreneurs through a new referral partnership with Accion and Grameen America. Credit unions can enable inclusive economies by expanding access to small business lending.
