LEVERAGE, in conjunction with Landrum and CUNA Mutual Group, is providing a free educational event focusing on employment law, Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the LSCU & Affiliates office in Birmingham.

Representatives from Landrum and CUNA Mutual Group will discuss the following topics:

New Social Media Laws & the NLRB
Speaker: Amie Remington, Landrum Employer Services

The National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) efforts have dramatically broadened and have extended to evolving social media venues such as Facebook and Twitter. It has issued whitepapers and guidances advising employers what action they may and may not take when presented with an employee who makes seemingly disparaging remarks on social media forums. This session will explore recent federal case law, particularly from the 11th Circuit. This session will also explain the damages permitted under the National Labor Relations Act.

Employment Law Update: Lessons Learned
Jim Bullard and Joni Lovingood, CUNA Mutual Group

This session will focus on employment policies and procedures that credit unions can implement to reduce risk. We will review recent claims experience related to employment practices and recommend best practices based on our credit union industry experience.

The presentation is approved for HRCI re-certification credits (for the human resources certifications PHR and SPHR).

Register to attend this event by sending an email to Rhea Oaks, product manager, LEVERAGE.
