adminA new phishing scam has been discovered that targets Apple customers. The scammers are sending emails that look like official Apple emails to businesses and Apple customers. The emails are an attempt to steal Apple IDs, credit card information, and passwords.
The email that comes in looks authentic and states that the user’s account has had limitations placed on it. A link is provided that will help the user clear up the problem. However, the link, which looks authentic as well, is fake and asks for billing information. Comodo Antispam Lab figured out the scam by analyzing the URL, IP address, and domain. The email and website don’t have the usual feel of a phishing attack because the look and grammar is very good.
Credit unions are urged to let staff know, especially those using credit union issued Apple devices. The Comodo Labs blog has many more screen captures of the link provided in the phishing email.
