Senator Halpern assumed office on January 11, 2021. She won in a special primary runoff election on December 1, 2020, with more than 80% of the votes.

Senator Halpern was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an MBA from the University of Hartford. She has an extensive career, including working for ESPN, Public Broadcasting Atlanta, and various non-profit organizations.

The Senator is a member of the following committees:

  • Banking and Financial Institutions Committee
  • Education and Youth Committee
  • Senate Health and Human Services Committee
  • State Institutions and Property Committee
