The first day of the Southeast Leadership Development Conference (SLDC) began at sunrise with the golf outing and ended with the exhibit hall. In between, a Mad City Money Reality Fair was held, Young Professionals Group took part in a Philosophy in Action session, CEOs had a two-hour roundtable, directors had two sessions, and the exhibit hall opened. Plus, one person walked away with $500 in cash at the end of the night.

Scott Collins (l), president of Xtend, and Dustin Tucker on the golf course during SLDC. Scott beat Dustin in a playoff to win the putting contest.

The Mad City Money Reality Fair simulated real life situations for kids from Walton High School and South Walton High School. They went station to station to learn about life and how to live on a budget. The kids could be heard saying, “Now I know how my Mom feels” and “Man living on a budget is hard.” Members of the LSCU & Affiliates Cooperative Initiatives Team and some Young Professionals helped run the fair.

The Southeastern Credit Union Foundation golf outing had to fight the rain to get all 18 holes in, but the golfers had a great time. Scott Collins, president of Xtend, won the long drive and the putting contest. The Infirmary FCU CEO Keith McKinley won the closest to the pin. The group of Charlie Roberts, Mike Keine, Joe Wright, and Dick Ramsey won the event. The money raised goes to the foundation to help its many programs including Mad City Money.

The exhibit hall opened for nearly two hours. A full house of attendees walked among the sold out booths and looked at solutions to help streamline their operations. Many exhibitors said they had meaningful conversations with the credit unions. Dean Horner from North Alabama Educators won $500 at the end of the night in the exhibit hall.

Thursday has a full day including three speakers, Rep. Randy Davis, and a full day of education sessions. Follow the SLDC and see pictures on the League’s Facebook and Twitter feeds.
