Hurricane Ian Survivors Still Need Your Help

It is going to take years to fully recover from the effects of Hurricane Ian. As of Tuesday, there are nearly ten credit union branches still closed, a major improvement from the more than 70 branches closed immediately after the storm. Unfortunately, there are still tens of thousands of residents in Central Florida without power.

Many in our credit union family are still in need of supplies and resources while they continue to assess the damage caused by this storm. Donations can be made to the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation or to CU Aid to assist credit unions, their teams, and their families working to get through this hardship.

Last week, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates) travelled to the affected areas with recovery supplies for our credit unions. In addition, the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation has received more than 250 grant applications and is working tirelessly to ensure that critical needs are met and resources are provided in a timely manner.

In addition to monetary donations, the League is collecting basic household items, generators, mobile branches, ATMs, hot spots, tarps, and more. Please contact Alisha Stair, Vice President of Member Engagement, at Alisha.Stair@lscu.coop if you are able to lend resources to a credit union in need.
