LSCU & Affiliates and VACUL Announce Intent to Consolidate

The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates has announced its plans to form a strategic partnership with the Virginia Credit Union League. If approved, this partnership would build a stronger and more dynamic League – providing credit unions with new opportunities for engagement, innovation, and advocacy impact, creating a best-in-class trade association for credit unions. Together, we are committed to your continued success and have prioritized the following tenets:

Advocacy Impact:
o This collaboration will create a more diverse and powerful network of state and federal lawmakers and regulators, increasing our ability to drive positive change for the betterment of credit unions.
o The tried-and-tested advocacy process will continue to provide credit unions with clear control over state-level and local congressional delegation advocacy strategies. Together, the League and credit unions will deepen engagement and increase impact across the entire footprint.
o The expanded advocacy team will include federal, state, regulatory, legal, political, and grassroots subject matter experts – ensuring credit unions have a bench of dependable advocates always in their corner.
o Additional in-house compliance staff will assist credit unions throughout every step of the advocacy integration process and as legislation and regulation is introduced and enacted.

Member Resources:
o Credit unions will benefit from a broader range of resources and educational events including increased networking and professional development, enhanced training, improved services, and more comprehensive support.
o Every credit union will have an assigned League Consultant who provides custom engagement reports to ensure members are maximizing the full value of affiliation and are aware of beneficial solutions from LEVERAGE.
o Due to this unification, we will be able to launch regional, issue-specific, and professional Communities through the CONNECT platform to establish free-of-charge peer-to-peer networking and collaboration.
o A combined League Foundation will multiply resources for credit union advancement, community impact, and professional development. This approach will allow us to deliver focused support, especially for small credit unions – helping them grow, expand outreach, and better serve communities.
o Credit unions under $150M in assets will benefit from our Small Credit Union program, which is designed to facilitate growth and address the challenges of small credit unions. This program provides $1,000 in financial support to offset the cost of dues, products, services, and events. Additional assistance includes custom and on-demand training, quarterly Custom Performance Reports to provide peer comparison benchmarks, and quarterly summits to enhance collaboration and professional development.

o The shared vision of Southeastern and Virginia credit unions will result in an industry-leading force, driving innovation and setting new standards for member success.
o LSCU’s unique structure, including robust sub-companies, will enable product and market savings along with the continued benefit of annual Value Transfers to the League.
o By implementing a modernized dues formula, members will benefit from increased efficiencies and cost savings.
o With a larger, more diverse membership base, we will have a stronger voice in industry discussions and advocacy efforts.
