Empowering Chapter Leaders: Insights and Innovation at the 2024 Retreat

The 2024 Chapter Leaders Retreat, held on August 6 – 7 in Miramar Beach, Florida, was a remarkable event filled with networking, insightful discussions, and valuable takeaways for Chapter Leaders. The retreat, which took place just before the second annual VISION Conference, provided an excellent platform for leaders to share best practices and engage in conversations that will greatly benefit their respective Chapters.

The retreat began with a networking reception on Tuesday evening, setting the stage for the day of learning and collaboration that followed. On Wednesday morning, attendees kicked off with a review of the Chapter System and an introduction to the upcoming Virtual Chapter, offering new opportunities for engagement and growth. Bobbi Grady, Foundation Executive Director of the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation, shared valuable insights on attracting and retaining sponsorships, a critical component for Chapter success.

Kelly Yager, Member Engagement Consultant at the League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU), presented on how to start a Young Professionals Group within the Chapter, highlighting the importance of fostering the next generation of leaders. This was followed by an interactive discussion on Chapter Impact and Programs That Work, where leaders exchanged ideas and strategies for maximizing their Chapter’s influence.

Samantha Beeler, President of LSCU, made a special appearance to express her gratitude for the dedication and hard work of the Chapter Leaders. The day concluded with a dynamic Roundtable discussion, facilitated by Alex Lawley, Chapter President of the Birmingham Chapter. Leaders explored various aspects of Chapter operations, leaving with fresh perspectives and actionable ideas to implement in their Chapters.

Overall, the 2024 Chapter Leaders Retreat was a resounding success, equipping Chapter Leaders with the tools and inspiration needed to lead their Chapters to new heights.
