Credit unions worldwide are gearing up to celebrate International Credit Union Day on Oct. 17. ICU Day festivities are a way to reflect on the positive impact our individual and cooperative accomplishments have on the financial lives of our members and communities. It’s also a chance to share our success stories and reenergize for the future.

Every credit union is unique, and the different array of ICU Day activities energize our celebration. Credit unions are encouraged to post their ICU Day outreach initiatives on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram under the #ICUDay hashtag. To kickstart your planning, here are just a few of the activities that you can incorporate into your ICU Day efforts:

  • Community outreach and volunteerism
  • Open houses or picnics
  • Giveaways and branch decorations
  • Essay, athletics, art or other types of youth competitions

No matter how your credit union chooses to celebrate this October, ICU Day activities raise awareness about the credit union difference and ultimately encourage new members to join a local credit union, making us stronger together.
